Interactive museum of blacksmith art “Ryazanskaya Krytsa”
We are pleased to welcome a new member of the Association of Private and People’s Museums of Russia – Interactive Museum of Blacksmith Art “Ryazanskaya Kritsa”. The founders of the museum are Alexander Vladimirovich Churkin and Mikhail Alexeevich Ratkin.
The Blacksmiths’ Art Museum with a blacksmith’s workshop (stylised as an ancient smithy) runs all kinds of workshops for different age groups, with varying degrees of experience in blacksmithing. At the workshops you can forge your own souvenir (horseshoe, coin, carnation, rose, etc.).
In March 2023 enrolment to the blacksmith school will start.
The museum conducts interactive excursions into the history of metalwork and its traditions in the Ryazan region; it collects and compiles information on crafts, reconstructs ancient methods of metalwork and metal production; it carries out research work with the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts (the department of artistic metal); it takes part in festivals and city celebrations featuring a reconstructed mobile forge, as well as reconstructed medieval weapons.
The museum exposition is represented by reconstructed medieval weapons, scientific works on metal extraction and its processing according to restored technologies.
