About the project:
Samsung Electronics is a Russian stage of the World Championship on computer games: the World Cyber Games 2011 Russia Preliminary. The company has been acting as a general sponsor and a global partner of the Championship since the founding of the competition in 2001.

The World Cyber Games is the main event in the world of eSports, attracting the attention of thousands of participants and millions of fans from around six continents. The Russian stage of the World Championship on computer games, WCG 2011, consists of two rounds: the qualifying regional tournament, which began in June, and the final which is to take place in Moscow from September 3rd-4th. People from 14 Russian cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ekaterinburg, Yakutsk, Samara, Irkutsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Voronezh and Makhachkala) are welcome to have a shot at virtual battles. The winners of the regional qualifying stages to come to the Russian final (September 3rd-4th) to compete for the prize fund of 27 000 conventional units, and getting into the Grand Final. The World Cyber Games have a key role in the development of the global cyber-sports and gaming technology. Largely thanks to the Championship, from entertainment for children computer games have evolved into a real business with billions of dollars in turnover and 25 per cent annual growth. Now it is the most prestigious and large-scale competition of progamers around the world, and Russian players in recent years are among the claimants for top honours.

The World Cyber Games are the world’s largest competitions on computer games. South Korea, organized the first championship in Seoul in October 2000, and took the lead of the World of video games. It was supported by the world’s largest IT-companies and the government of South Korea. The success of the event marked the beginning of the annual holding of the World computer games. Each year the competition involved some 700 competitive players from 70 countries from around the globe. The total prize fund of the World Cyber Games is 500 thousand dollars.
