The largest Eastern-European salon of oldtimer automobiles, antiques and retro style. This outstanding exhibition will occupy three pavilions: 4, 4.1 and 4.2, and one of them will be dedicated entirely to the 95th anniversary of the so-called Kremlin Garage, or the FSO Special Purpose Garage.
For several days all the motors that have served Russian leaders over the last century, from Emperor Nicholas II of Russia to Vladimir Putin, will be gathered under one roof. And behind each motor, there is a unique story. Some have bullet marks from unsuccessful assassination attempts, others narrowly escaped destruction; and all of them are a living history of our country. The luxurious Emperor’s Delaunay-Belleville and the legendary Lenin’s Rolls-Royce, the monumental armored motors of Stalin and the open Phaetons of Khrushchev, Brezhnev’s four-wheel-drive “hunting” Volga and the magnificent ZIL cabriolet that welcomed Gagarin’s triumph: we know these automobiles from documentary footages and headers of age-yellowed newspapers. At the salon, you will have a chance to see them with your own eyes.
Special expositions will be dedicated to the cars of the flying security squads, the legendary “catch-ups”, and luxury buses – all members of the Special Purpose Garage. There will also be a special stand with 15 motorcycles that “served” in the Honor Escort over 60 years of its existence. An exclusive premiere: for the first time visitors will have a chance to see three previously classified prototypes of Soviet escort motorcycles with rotary piston engines that had never made it to active service in the Special Purpose Garage before the break-up of the Soviet Union.
Also for the first-time, the modern presidential cortege with Pullman limousine, escort automobiles and motorcycles will be presented in the “combat formation”, so that visitors can have a close look at the vehicles that they usually only get to see sweeping past them at great speed.
There will be daily show performances by the Special Guard Squadron of the Presidential Regiment, demonstrating various reformations and arms drills. The Presidential Orchestra will perform “General-Marsh” (The General’s March), “Starinny Marsh Preobrazhenskogo Polka” (The Old March of the Preobrazhensky Regiment), “Grom Pobedy, Razdavaysya!” (Let the Thunder of Victory Sound), “Gvardeysky Vstrechny Marsh” (Guards Countermarch), “Grenadir” (Grenadier) and other Russian historical marches.
It’s a rare occasion that the collection of Head of state’s automobiles is presented to the public. Don’t miss your chance to see it!
The unique exhibition in Sokolniki will only last five days: from March 4th to March 8th.
