About the exhibition:

One-man exhibition by Vitaly Shapovalov, a well-known Russian calligraphy master, artist- aquarellist, member of the National Union of Calligraphers. It is the first event of such scale the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy has organised for a local calligrapher.

The exhibition will bring over one hundred original calligraphy works by the artist, which are a bright example of his individual skills and mastery in the art of beautiful handwriting. His works unveil diversity, finesse and depth of both Russian and European calligraphy, presented via the art of one artist.

Among the exhibited works are a large art series created by Vitaly Shapovalov over the past years (33 Alphabet Calligraphic Initials, Creation Of The World), a series of works made in collaboration with Japanese calligrapher Yoshiko Yoshida, as well as some original paintings executed in the author’s unique and inimitable technique: brush and watercolours.

The Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy is the main organizer of the exhibition which is also a member of the International council of Museums (ICOM Russia), The American Alliance of Museums (AAM) and the European Museum Forum (EMF).
