Denim Formula Denim Festival will be held in Moscow from September 26 to 29, 2019.
Jeans as a cultural heritage: there are clothes that we wear without hesitation. Most often, jeans are the “Cinderella” of our wardrobe. Meanwhile, they have a rich history, and you can learn about it at the Denima Formula festival.
The idea of this festival was born when a stranger in a Levi’s denim jacket, collector Sergey Churinov, came to the Formula Crafts company. It turned out that for more than 10 years he has been collecting unusual things related to the history of jeans fashion, and creating art objects from them, a kind of milestone in the history of jeans. The romance of cowboys and gold miners, the hippie era and the Woodstock festival, collaborations of legendary brands ... And we realized that this collection should see the light. After all, jeans are not just clothes, this is a huge layer of culture!
In 2019, three anniversaries connected with jeans fell immediately. 190 years ago, Levi’s founder, Levy Strauss, was born. It was under his leadership back in the mid-19th century that work clothes instead of the usual canvas were sewn from French fabric - denim. 50 years ago, the first cult hippie festival - Woodstock (Woodstock Music & Art Fair) was held, and jeans acquired a new sound - as an element of hippie culture, a symbol of youth, creativity and freedom. And, finally, the third anniversary is already ours, Russian. 60 years ago in Sokolniki the “Iron Curtain” rose and the first American National Exhibition took place - at the very place where the “Denima Formula” will be held.
At the festival "Formula Denima" a galaxy of unusual designers who work with denim gathered: Ksenia Savostyanova, Olga Bulgakova, Inna Grior, Lyubov Bialon. The latter will introduce Japanese-style denim customization. You will see the exposition of jeans clothes over which the stars have worked: Marat KA, Andrey Bartenev, Elena Teplitskaya and others.
Another excursion into the history of fashion is the collection of Soviet jeans fashion from the artist and director Alexander Petlyura. Someone she will be struck, and someone - will plunge into nostalgic memories ...
Guests will also enjoy workshops on customizing jeans and other modern forms of creativity, an island of masters, an exhibition of mini-dioramas, a show program, charity projects, a country-style food court and much more.

The festival will be held from September 26 to 29 in Sokolniki Park, Pavilion No. 4.2 (entrance through Pavilions No. 4 and 4.1), next to the “Needlework Formula” exhibition.
