Pleasantly to see wrapping you saw
in childhood

Special resourcefulness and ingenuity
in wrapping design, people used to
look at, are very attractive.
In accordance with the form of the
wrapper we can watch the evolution
of industrial design in whole.
In the Museum of Packing there are rich collections of unique packaging and label products. Currently, the exposition in Sokolniki consists of the samples created in Russia. The first section is “The Russian Empire” (labels and bottles, lithographed metal cans and confectionary wrappers, flasks and labels for perfumes and cosmetics). The second section is “USSR”, with well-known Soviet brands. The third section is “Modern Russia”. The exposition is being gradually replenished.

Meanwhile, the Museum is under construction. Information on the Museum's re-opening to appear on our site — watch the news.

“Sorceress” from the exhibition “Magical Castle”, Dmitry Korolenko (Russia)

Flaming heart made of ice

The symbol of poetry “Impetuous Pegasus”, Dmitry Klimenko (Russia)

The Museum was officially launched on December 4, 2010. Totally occupying 700 square meters, the museum enjoys 500 square meters of exhibition spaces. It is equipped with refrigerating chambers. To create the very first exposition, a team of sculptors and carvers used 800 tons of ice and 200 tons of snow. Here you can experience how it feels like to be in an ice room that has all details and parts of a real interior – specifically a fireplace, chairs, a mirror, an ice bar with ice dishes and even – an ice bed! Besides, the Ice Museum demonstrated ice sculptures of cartoon characters, aliens, fantastic insects, the Gorgon, Pegasus and a dinosaur.
